About This Spot

Stepping into Baik Su Korean Restaurant feels like slipping into a quiet corner of Korea, tucked away modestly within a complex off the main road in Surabaya. The pace here is gentle, inviting diners to settle in and savor a meal without rush. Soft lighting and classic Korean accents craft a warm, intimate atmosphere that encourages sharing stories as much as sharing plates.

At Baik Su, the experience centers around connection — to flavors, to tradition, and to those around you. The charcoal grill takes center stage, bringing to life the rich aromas of marinated meats and the comfort of smoky, tender bites. Side dishes are thoughtfully presented, each carrying the subtle depth of authentic Korean home cooking, never overwhelming but always complementing the main event.

This is a place where familiar Korean ingredients come together with care and a quiet pride. The kimchi carries a balanced tang that awakens the palate, while the bubbling stews and savory barbecue speak to a culinary heritage that is both humble and deeply satisfying. The attentive atmosphere invites diners to participate in the ritual of grilling and savoring, turning each meal into a shared celebration.

Though unassuming in setting, Baik Su holds a special place for those who seek authenticity and moments of genuine connection over food. It may ask a little patience, but those who find it are met with flavors and a mood that stay with you long after the last bite.

Came here through the recommendation of a friend. A bit hard to find, off the main road in a complex that’s quite dark. But food was amazing— very authentic and delicious. The Kim chi is SO good. Service was decent too. Glad we were told about this place or else we would have never known it’s existence.

Actually for authentic korean resto, this place is good and the ambience too. But surprisingly the service was bad when I visited them. The waiter response was so slow and I was waiting more than 1 hour for my orders. (In fact that me and my GF were the only visitors there in that time)

If looking for a proper korean BBQ in town, this is the place. They use a premium ingredients, marinated in a secret recipe sauce that gives umami flavor. Even though they don't prepare too many side dishes, at least we got the basic one. Decorated in a classic korean style of restaurant, we were assisted to help us grill and take our order. It is not hard to find a parking lot, and for me this place is suitable for family with young kids. A warm welcome given by the owner every time a guest come through the main door. In case it is full on first floor, you can always go to the 2nd floor and ready to have national best korean BBQ and of course with the soju.

After so many years gone by, got a chance today to visit Baik Su the Legendary Korean resto in Surabaya 30 years ago.. The taste is still Ori and I like the Yu Kue, kimchi, pork grilled and the soup

Food taste good, some is standard, some is excellent. Service is good, many korean dine here too, so it's not like indonesian korean fusion food.
